Game: Torch Tag
We did this game to go along with learning about Greece. First, we explained that the Olympics originated in Greece, and showed a photo of the Olympic flame. We talked about the Olympic Flame, and how Torch Bearers relay the flame from Greece then across the host Olympic country (such as Vancouver 2010).
We used a flashlight as our torch.
The girl who is "it" is the torch bearer. When she tags someone, she hands over the torch, then sits down at the side of the playing area. This way, everyone gets a chance to be a torch bearer.
You would think that the girls would all want to be tagged and would hang around the torch bearer TRYING to be tagged, but that was not the case! They actually treated this as a true "tag" game and ran away from the torch bearer as fast as they could.
