Game: Bake Off Relay

The object of the game is for the Brownie circles to race in a relay and collect everything they need to bake a batch of cookies.  If circles don’t have even numbers, you could rearrange to make the teams fair.

For each circle you will need:

  • Recipe card with instructions
  • Measuring cup
  • Plastic mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • spatula
  • Apron
  • Oven mitt
  • An empty box to represent flour
  • Cookie sheet
  • Empty milk carton

To play:

Set up all the items for each circle on one side of the play area.  Create obstacles made from cookie boxes and labelled as the oven, the fridge, the store, etc.  The teams race in a relay to bake cookies, but they won’t know what they need until the first girl runs and gets the recipe card and brings it back to the group.  One at a time, each girl races to get the next item of the recipe, doing what the card says as they go.  For example,

  • The first item might be to go and get the apron.
  • The next person then has to wear that item and run around the store once then get the flour.
  • The next person has to get the apron from the second person, put it on and run to the fridge to get the milk.
  • Then someone has to get the mixing bowl and run to the oven and back to the circle.

Make the relay as long and as complex as you want.  You should have one or two instructions per girl in the team.

All the instructions can be on one recipe card, or have new instructions written out for each item.  The team that finishes first can play host and serve a snack to the other players.
