Game: Cookies Crossing

From the Cookies Rising program.

Supplies:

  • two pieces of newspaper per team
  • a large open space

Objective:

  • Using two pieces of newspaper (aka. cookies) to get the whole team from one side of the room to the other side without falling into the “Milky Lake” (a.k.a the floor). It is recommended not to use any more than three or four people per team. Therefore break the Unit into smaller groups.

How to Play:

  • Lay newspaper #1 down on the ground. Make sure every team member is standing on the newspaper #1.
  • Lay newspaper #2 in front of newspaper #1 and tell the girls they must get across the milky lake without falling in.  Do not give them any clues about HOW to get across (although instructions follow).  See if they can figure it out as a team!
  • Move the team from newspaper #1 to newspaper #2 without touching the milky lake. If a team member falls into the Milky Lake, the group will have to start again. Remember this is an activity that focuses on teambuilding and working together!
  • Make sure the last person leaving newspaper #1 takes it with her. You will use this piece of newspaper again.
  • Place newspaper #1 on the ground and move your team from newspaper #2 to newspaper #1 without touching the milky lake. Make sure the last person leaving newspaper #2 takes it with her. You will use this piece of newspaper again.
  • Repeat the above steps until you get to the other end of the room.
  • The main rule of the game is one person must always be on a "cookie" that touches the ground.
